According to the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, Article 2 defines genocide as ..any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:
(a) Killing members of the group;
(b) Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
(c) Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
(d) Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
(e) Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.
- Through the evidence gathered during our investigation, we have come to the conclusion that the starvation of the Ukrainian peoples was deliberate, and should therefore be classified as genocide.
- In the United Nations "Responsibility to Protect" initiative, it is stated that it is the international communities responsibility to assist a state to fulfill its primary responsibility. It also states that If the state fails to protect its citizens from mass atrocities and peaceful measures have failed, the international community has the responsibility to intervene through coercive measures such as economic sanctions.
- The United Nations should acknowledge Ukraine's desire for independence, and intervene to achieve self-determination or sovereignty. They are entirely capable of maintaining a food supply by private land ownership. Most importantly, the atrocities committed by Stalin are killing people by the millions. The United Nations should act immediately to alleviate the number of deaths with humanitarian aid. The aid should mostly be in the form of food, water, and medicine.
